Thought Field Therapy

Thought Field Therapy (TFT) is another way that troubling memories, fears and sadness can be lifted, restoring the person to a relaxed, harmonious state.

It involves tapping or simply holding acupuncture points that are linked with the major emotions we experience.

A person simply thinks of the troubling event or feeling, notices the degree of discomfort that arises and taps a careful sequence of points on themselves as shown by the therapist. They provide feedback as to progress made, or not made, and the therapist adds or changes the tapping sequence until a relaxed state is reached--even while thinking of the memory. Often this takes just a few minutes.

One of the benefits of TFT is that, once taught, a person can use it at home or at work to reduce anxiety. It is also effective with children and teens.

TFT has not had the same level of research as EMDR but there are a number of studies showing it to be effective. Within just a few minutes we will know whether it works for you.
